In terms of the material costs, the existing pump is more economical to manufacture as it uses a single rotor and a motor. While the above description contains much specificity, these should not be construed as limitation in the scope of the invention, but rather as an exemplification of the preferred embodiments thereof. Solid casing implies a design in which the entire casing including the discharge nozzle is all contained in one casting or fabricated piece.
A conventional centrifugal pump works with an electrical power driven motor connected to the pump on its driving end. It can be seen that it comprises a single rotor but it has been modified such that the shaft 2A extends out on either side of the motor. Two pumps were tested, a Texmo make pump of lOhp rating and an Apex dual pump that was constructed using same motor. While it is known that several attempts have been made and continue to be made to minimise these losses, the percentage improvement by minimising these losses is small. There's therefore a need to provide improved pumps that will be more economic to provide and maintain. The improved pump operates on a single motor and has two suction mouths and two delivery ports provided on the impeller housing.
The impellers 4 A, 4B which rotate with the help of the energy provided by an energy source such as an electric motor, throw out the water through the two delivery ports 9 A, 9B that are provided on the impeller housings 5 A, 5B. While it is known that several attempts have been made and continue to be made to minimise these losses, the percentage improvement by minimising these losses is small. A centrifugal pump is a rotodynamic pump that uses a rotating impeller to increase the pressure and flow rate of a fluid. It must be realized that modifications and variations are possible based on the disclosure given above without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
